‘Winter Shadows’ East Pier Dun Laoghaire *SOLD*

‘Winter Shadows’ East Pier Dun Laoghaire. This was a painting that was done a few months ago, in fact around October 2020. I took my detailed and noted sketch back to my studio and worked on this to the painting you see here.

I was pretty happy overall with the watercolour. The concept of light and saturated colour is a big theme for me recently. I’m loving the deep oranges and cadmium yellows etc.

I’m probably a ‘marine artist‘ more so, and I hope this scene falls into that category?

The sun and colour are the main features here. The enlarged sun is dramatised to capture the viewer’s attention. The figures are also dead centre to attract the eyes more into the seascape painting and carry them up along the victorian pier.
