‘Winter Shadows’

Winter Shadows Courtown. Co. Wexford.

Watercolour. I painted this from a sketch in my vehicle as the weather was extremely cold and windy. The colours of the background trees and foliage gave me the impetus to get it down fast. I always remember in my mind’s eye all the details of the big shapes and where my shadows are. The trees were beautiful subtle winter browns and ochres. I thought the cars and figures add a touch of atmosphere and bustle.

Court Town is a small attractive seaside resort in the County of Wexford. Many people from the East coast of Ireland come here to their holiday homes or day trips.
