I knew this would make for a unique painting. This area of Co. Dublin is well known to many people – near and far. Killiney Beach, with it’s Stoney strand and rough sea. It’s a popular strand for walkers and swimmers. The views are breathtaking and dramatic. To your left is Dalkey Island and to your right, way off in the distance, you can see Bray Head, Co. Wicklow.
The interest in this composition was the walkers on the beachhead, some with dogs, others having family fun. My objective was to capture the essence of the characters and try to convey that to the viewers. The background was very important to capture the viewer’s attention and to carry them to other parts of the painting.
