‘Rough Sea at Sandycove’ Co. Dublin.

This watercolour sketch was great fun to paint. I went at it with no inhibitions what so ever. That’s the thing with watercolour – loose and fast, confidence in your approach and most of all; a pre though out plan is vital! I hope i achieved it some what here. My objective of course was getting the waves coming on the shoreline. Also, i wanted it to look like a convincing storm. The whole atmosphere and values had to be ‘dark’ and gloomy. I was reasonably happy with the waves and rough sea.
