This watercolour was painted recently. I love these boats. They feature in many of my social media posts, especially instagram. I wanted to get the feel of a warm summer’s day here in this scene. i did a sketch first to get the tonal aspects and bones of the perspective to my liking first, then, took a photo…always handy for when you get back to the studio and may have forgotten something; like an antenna, or a colour that’s not matching the boat, ie; the orange colour on the cabin is a specific colour that only the R.N.L.I. uses – i try to replicate that as much as possible in watercolour.
