‘Three’s Company’

Three’s Company. Acrylic.

This painting was done on-site from Dun Laoghaire Harbour. Painted ‘Plein-Air‘, or, on-site.  I love to paint on-site as this gives me more of a sense of emotion with my subject.

The particular composition, or scene is simple: three yachts. However, there’s more – there is a simplicity and reality to what I want to achieve; meaning I compose whatever is in front of me intentionally. And what confronted me was a feeling of unity and togetherness.

I love boats in and out of the water. The masts and the way the boats bobble up and down in the water. There is something so tangible and beautiful about vessels.
