‘Summer Has Arrived’ Seapoint, Co. Dublin. This is a watercolour sketch loosely based on a recent sketch done from the site, or ‘On Location’ Painting. I wanted to capture all the elements of the summer sun, kids having fun. The squawking of gulls in the background and crashing waves. I try to bring lots of figures in different poses and gestures to my work and invite the viewer in; try to find themselves in this scene with all the thrills and spills of a typical beach scene. We’ve had a glorious summer, and recently a heatwave that brought many people to Seapoint and many beaches over the country.
