‘Boy Jamie’ (Dun Laoghaire Harbour, West Pier)

This is a watercolour painting I did as a commission for a young couple who owns a fishing vessel docked in the harbour at West Pier Dun Laoghaire. Co, Dublin. I can say with hand on my heart; I totally enjoyed painting it. A lot of intricate details with booms, cables, ropes and the rippled water effects surrounding the boat, but, overall I was satisfied with the end result.

The skipper’s wife asked me to paint it three days prior to this…I was really hesitant and slightly nervous about getting it wrong but thought to myself: ‘I probably know ‘Boy Jamie‘ as much as they do’🤞🤞… I have a true admiration for these brave guys going out in all conditions and catching fish offshore for lengthy periods of time. That’s one of the reasons I wanted to do this for them. They were delighted with painting, and that means the world to me.
